Recently my Moms & Fun Aunt Jenny were talking about my upcoming birthday (Halloween, guys!). Never to shy away from a party, they also were talking about my Gotcha Day.
What's a Gotcha Day you ask? That's a day that us adopted babies like to call the day we got to go home with our forever family.
But always one to not have any easy story... mine wasn't as simple as all that. You see, I was born October 31, 2006 & was in a Oops liter. What does that mean? Well.. let's just say the place I came from has toy white poodles and miniature auburn poodles. And well, we all showed up as champagne (that's a cross people) color and a mix between a toy and a miniature. Which makes me perfect, of course!
8 weeks later, just in time for Christmas, I was picked up by the A Family as a gift for their 4 year old Emma. That's how I got my name Jack, too! Her mom wanted a dog named Leroy, but Emma wanted a Jack in the box. So there you have it- Christmas morning, I was a Jack in a gift box- and Leroy was my middle name.
But as it turns out, even with that great start- the family just didn't have enough love to give me as a puppy. But I have to tell you- Emma and I remain best friend to this day. And their other dog Buddy I still call a brother. You'll hear more about him later.
This is a picture of me and Emma from a few years ago (she gives GREAT hugs!):
And here's where it gets good! My mom is Emma's Aunt! So when they were at their wits end, she showed up with Momma, who took one look at me and put me in their car! Emma was sad to see me go, but now she's my favorite cousin and we see each other a lot. Plus, I still get to see the A family all the time!
Mom and Momma weren't sure they would be able to take on me as a 6 month old puppy, but after a lot of growing pains and me teaching them SO much stuff, plus getting rid of things I didn't think were necessary (Shoes, cable cords, toilet paper, cell phones...) we became a great family.
Don't worry, I'll explain THAT photo later.
Where's Aunt Jenny, you ask? Well, she was just around the corner, and I was her welcoming committee when she came to our house one evening, and never left!
Happy Trails!
Jack
